EdTech in the Spotlight March 2024
Speakia | Aspiring to lead in speaking skills development – shaping a future where English language learners anywhere can access high-quality education through technology.
EduMaxi has a broad learning solutions focus but their primary edtech product is Speakia.
With a 5-star rating on the Education App Store, Speakia currently supports non-English speaking children aged four to 10 years to build their English language speaking confidence from a young age.
Focusing on harnessing the power of interactive and engaging tools to enhance language development, the Speakia platform leverages gamified learning experiences, making education both fun and effective for children.
“We understand the critical importance of the foundational years in education and aim to equip children with the skills necessary for lifelong success,” says Madelize Bekker, Managing Director of EduMaxi and CEO of Speakia.
Most recently Madelize and her team have been on an exciting journey of growth and innovation. Speakia was a D2C product only, but the team launched a B2B solution with the Speakia for Schools offering after months of development.
During March, the team was also in Singapore and Vietnam for an in-market deep dive, including networking events to support their distributor and build relationships.
“For example, we have been working closely with the Institute of Research in Education and Economic Development (EXIM) and HCMC University of Foreign Language and Information Technology (HUFLIT) to organise a workshop and a dinner with local edtech and stakeholders.”
Other markets where Madelize and her team are exploring opportunities and pilots include the U.S. and Korea. The feedback in global markets from students, their parents and teachers continues to be positive.
“The app design is vivid and beautiful. Speakia’s learning content is closely related to daily life. If parents encourage their children to learn every day, or if parents use Speakia together with their children, their oral English will improve rapidly.“ Luella (Teacher, China).
Speakia remains committed to innovation, inclusivity, and accessibility.
“We are always seeking opportunities to collaborate with more educators, technologists, and learning institutions to enrich our offering and make a positive impact on early childhood education globally as far as speaking practice is concerned.”
