FinTechNZ and Amazon Web Services are hosting a virtual “Open Banking Lessons from Near and Far” webinar, with Xero, ākahu, Fintech UK, TrueLayer, Australian Fintech and Basiq.
Open Banking is gaining traction around the world and is now moving up the agenda of Kiwi banks and Fintechs. This means that there are now plenty of opportunities for us to learn from those with experience in markets where Open Banking is live, like the UK and Australia.
Join us to hear the experiences and recommendations from companies at the fore front of Open Banking.

Marie Steinthaler – VP Global GTM, TrueLayer
Marie Steinthaler is Vice President of Global Go-To-Market for one of the world’s leading providers of financial APIs, TrueLayer. She is currently spearheading TrueLayer’s expansion into Australia – it is the first European Open Banking company to do so. TrueLayer’s mission is to create a global Open Banking platform that empowers companies to develop new financial services and products. Prior to joining TrueLayer, Marie was Head of New Products for Zopa, a UK challenger bank, where her teams developed new ways to help borrowers manage their money better. Before Zopa, she led growth at Hopster.tv, a leading app for preschoolers, launching the app in 100+ countries and growing the user base to hundreds of thousands.
Damir Cuca – CEO & Founder, Basiq
Damir is the founder and CEO of Basiq – Australia’s leading open banking platform that enables fintechs to securely access customer’s financial data. Damir is a member of Australia’s Consumer Data Right open banking advisory committee and actively champions the importance of fintechs in an innovative and inclusive open banking ecosystem.
Dimitri Stylianidis – GM Bank Feeds, Xero
Dimitri Stylianidis is the acting General Manager for Bank Feeds at Xero. Based in Wellington, Dimitri is responsible for the development and execution of Xero’s product strategy for its current feeds, numbering over 200 globally, as well Xero’s approach to Open Banking in multiple markets. Prior to Xero, Dimitri held roles at companies including Kiwibank and Westpac.
Josh Daniell – CEO of ākahu
Josh is the CEO of ākahu, a consumer data-sharing platform focussed on serving the New Zealand market. He was previously co-founder and CEO of Snowball Effect, and worked at WeWork and Bell Gully.”

David Engel– Business Development Manager, Amazon Web Services
David is a business development & channel partnerships executive, growth strategist, fintech expert, entrepreneur, and start-up advisor, with deep experience in SaaS, API & online marketplace businesses. David currently is Fintech BDM for Amazon Web Services, helping to accelerate the growth of the ANZ Fintechs and the fintech ecosystem. Prior to that, he was Commercial Director for the Australian and New Zealand markets for Verrency, a fintech platform that allows cards issuers to innovate faster, and at scale. David also serves as an advisor, both on a formal and informal basis, for several Melbourne startups, assisting with topics like growth, marketing, and governance.
