NZTech Inform – digital skills, trust and security

Tomorrow, I will be in Wellington continuing to work on lifting Government investment and coordination around digital skills.  Unfortunately, none of the $20 million in budget funding for the Digital Industry Transformation Plan was allocated to skills, which is unacceptable given how critical they are!  NZTech, IT Professionals and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) are now working with like minded people from across the Government education landscape to explore opportunities using regular agency funding.

In a fortnight I’ll be back in Wellington for a week packed with tech conferences and strategy workshops. Following a couple of years of disruptions, I’m excited to join our Cyber Security Summit, in partnership with Brightstar Events, in person again.  Our large gathering of hundreds of business leaders and tech professionals will be catching up on the latest cyber trends. Check out the two day agenda.  

Immediately following the Cyber Summit is the Digital Trust Summit with both local and international digital identity experts meeting in Wellington to share global best practice. Trust is a critical foundation for the success of all organisations in the digital era, so it’s vital we create and manage an environment of trust.

The remainder of the week consists of member meetings and work with NZTech’s Sustainability Sub Board to analyse and measure NZTech’s impact on the planet through the Future Fit framework. I’m looking forward to discovering our impact and reporting on it in this year’s annual report.
