Sunshine Online Secures NSW Government Approval
New Zealand’s leading literacy publisher, Sunshine Books, has received approval from the NSW Department of Education to provide schools in the state with an exciting new digital product that supports students to learn to read using decodable books. Sunshine Online is a digital service that works alongside Sunshine’s printed learn-to-read books.
Achieving a place on this inaugural panel of Online Learning Tools has thrilled the owner of Sunshine Books, Dame Wendy Pye. “Sunshine is proud of this achievement which will result in an opportunity for all children to improve their reading. We’re delighted that, after 35 years of serving Australian schools, we have achieved this further milestone with our quality products.”
The NSW Department of Education set out strict requirements for suppliers of digital education resources to comply with in relation to both curriculum alignment and pedagogy. This includes all resources needing to be underpinned by education research on how students learn, to cater for a range of individual learning abilities, to incorporate cross-curriculum priorities and content, and to provide professional support and assistant for teachers in their use of the resources in the classroom.
Sunshine resources are the digital and print literacy product of choice in the majority of primary schools in New Zealand, the Pacific, Australia and many other countries around the world.
